1969 Morris Minor 1000

This 1969 Morris Minor 1000 (1098 cc.) 4 door Saloon, is a manual, WSP 746L with Export De-luxe Specifications. The car is Snowberry White in color with black trim. It has only had two lady owners from new and has just done over 42,000 genuine miles.

This car was made on the 13/14 November, 1969. As production of the saloons stopped in November, 1970, this car was amongst the last to be made. At that time, the list price for Morris Minors was from 610.00. Between 1948 and 1971, 1,619,857 Morris Minors, both cars and commercials, were produced, and only another 23,731 4-door saloons were made after mine.

The second owner bought this car in November, 1997, in its present, largely original, condition from an elderly lady living in Doncaster. It had only done 33,782 miles. She and her husband bought the car in Bermuda early in 1970, used it as a second car for about 2 years before it was brought back to Immingham by the Royal Navy. It was first registered in the U.K. on the 8 June, 1973 at Dunfermline, Scotland. — hence the "L" registration. When the UK front number plate was replaced, the original Bermuda number plate — LP 200 — was found to be the base plate.

British Motor Industry Heritage Trust records show that the car left the factory complete with whitewall tires on the 12 January,1970, enroute for Bermuda. A nine waveband (1 medium, plus 8 short wave bands) Pye Transistor Power car radio was installed in Bermuda, and this is still in working order, although of only limited use in the U.S.A. At some time the jacking points have been replaced and an adhesive heated "rear window" fitted (now removed, but the wiring and control switch remain in place).

During the last 10 years, the following work has been undertaken:
• All necessary welding repairs on both sides of the car, incl. A posts — replacement of O/side & N/s inner and outer sills, boxing panels, & floor edging repair sections.
• both rear lamp units replaced.
• stainless steel sill finishers fitted — both sides.
• new screen rubber fitted.
• electric screen washers fitted
• modifying the cylinder head for unleaded fuel.
• a new heater control valve and heater pipes fitted.
• replacement of front brake shoes and cylinders.
• replacement of original seat belts with inertia reel seat belts.
• a petrol locking cap fitted.
• complete respray, Spring, 2005 — the white color was looking a bit "tired" after 36 years! On completion, the car received Jewelultra Diamondbrite paint protection treatment. There is a full photographic record of the work involved.

The car has been professionally maintained by a classic car specialist whilst in the second lady's ownership, having a fully documented service record for the last 10 years. Reference can be made to this business for any more detailed technical information that might be required. A Heritage Certificate comes with the car.

The car is in immaculate condition throughout and I have never seen one in such perfect condition.
